Water4Impact was founded in 2020. The project started with a bottom up approach by visiting and interviewing smallholder farmers in Burkina Faso to understand their basic livelihood conditions and most pressing needs. Since then we continued to visit farmer communities in Ivory Coast, Tanzania and Zambia to further develop our understanding of basic community needs across Subsaharan Africa. The most pressing issue remains valied across all sites visited, it is access to clean water.
Access to clean water within reach results in multiple benefits to the community that we have summarized in our Theory of Change. Ultimately our aim is to alleviate poverty strough a stable living income. We recognize access to water and education on the proper handling of water as the fundamental basis for five underlying focal areas, including the role of women and children's education:

Since the beginning of this project we have taken small steps to raise awareness and reach out to stakeholders to seek support. To this date, Paul Reinhart Foundation supported the project financially with access to clean water, sanitation and WASH education in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Zambia.
We are at the very beginning of a journey that envisions ensuring access to clean water within a 30 min walking distance to farmer communities.
